Insight into "Recession"

Hi Readers,

Well now since that the "recession" - the catastrophe - is on the verge of being recalled just as a "nightmare", it seems that there's a fresh air of content and relief percolating amongst the jobseeks and the jobholders.

When i look back i observe jobseekers who had vociferously and vehemently strived for their cause , gaping earnestly at the recruiters , only to be effaced away as tall gilders of smoke into thin air. And of course the jobholders -like us - who have seen the consonance of "dividends" and "performance" splayed out.

It seems like a cherished impunity ; from the stagnancy which has vieled and haunted the world for the past months. However it gave something which most of us lack - TENACITY.

In the intervening period of "recession" , winding up my work at EOD( an idiom in professional world for end of day) , i often used to discuss with friends (who were all the same sailing in the same boat) bout the trajectory of our career graphs which had been smitten badly by the ongoing recession. With news of retrenchments gaining essence over new job listings(virtually absent) , corporate falling apart and pay-cuts , "dissonance" became the most imperative character of my human behavior - of course there were other followers - my peers.

Believe it or not - beers with peers can set you off from all worries.Temporarily! And we made the most of it, discussing and gabbling over daily issues -right from the distribution of unrealistic sales target(despite being living in a sovereign country) to the does and dont of corporate world.....only to get back next morning to the monotonous professional life.Life everyday would start from praying to keep our job and end up by thanking GOD for keeping it for the day.

Hunting and exploring details of peers not doing well, like us, became the most vital task ,for the sake of that divine sigh of perspicuous relief - a platform where i was not alone, there were more of struggling others.

MIS clearly reflected a nose diving figures and the reign of recession - a fact ignored by sr management who further labeled it as an incompetent sales effort....We were being pushed against the wall. The "basic" competent of salary became fixed(no increments) and alcohol became a "basic" component of fixed expenses. It was the cost of shrugging stress---- People call it sales , we call it life!!

Times passed by day by day , month on month- Everyone was tested, everything were put to test , the profits, the margins, book size, npa's - so on and so forth .....and so were we.....And we delivered ! We came out of our cocoons to deliver the best.We never knew we had imbibed a new trait - tenacity.

Most of us in sales must have.

Despite all the hits ,recession has conspicuously elevated our capacity to deliver the best.It has given air to self belief of all those jingoistic employees who have given heart and sweat to their organization.None of us would want to see such phase again, nonetheless lets inculcate the trait which has been a blessing in disguise and hope for some ex gratia... What say !!
